Etymology

Blend of DeSantis +‎ sanctimonious. Coined by Donald Trump at a rally in 2022.[1] In January 2024, Trump announced that the nickname was "officially retired" after DeSantis had dropped out of the presidential primaries and endorsed Trump.[2]
