The English form of (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin Dorothea, the name of a legendary (and possibly fictitious) saint, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek Δωροθέα (Dōrothéa), from δῶρον (dôron, “gift”) + θεός (theós, “god”).
