Etymology

Borrowed from French fond, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin fundus, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰudʰmḗn. The native Luxembourgish synonym Buedem is ultimately derived from the same Indo-European root, via a Germanic route.
