Fremder m (genitive Fremden, plural Fremde, female Fremde)

  1. A stranger: someone whom one does not know.
    Mitten in der Nacht stand ein Fremder vor der Tür und sagte, dass wir die Polizei rufen müssen.
    In the middle of the night there was a stranger at the door who said we had to call the police.
  2. A stranger, a foreigner: someone from a different country, or from a different part of a country.
    In einer neuen Stadt bist du zunächst ein Fremder.
    Initially you are a stranger in a new city.
