Etymology

From the Latin name of the town Forum Iulii (Julius' forum) (now the Cividale del Friuli), from forum + Iūliī, genitive of Iūlius (Julius). Compare also the name of the French / Occitan town Fréjus, also from a locality named Forum Iulii.
