Luxembourgish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Probably inherited from Middle High German geisel, from Old High German geisila, but the Luxembourgish -äi-, which would require a Middle High German -ī-, shows that the form is influenced by German Geißel.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /ˈɡæi̯səl/, [ˈɡæˑɪ̯səl]

Noun[edit]

Gäissel f (plural Gäisselen)
