[edit]Originally the name of the nearby river (Kovashi/Hevaa river). From Ingrian Hevaha; this form, as well as Hevaa, appears to be from the oblique stem of the original name *Hevas, found in older Ingrian Hevas (also borrowed into Swedish Hevas).
