From Ancient Greek Ὑκσώς (Huksṓs), Ὑξώς (Huxṓs), from Egyptian ḥqꜣ-ḫꜣst (foreign ruler, Hyksos), from ḥqꜣ (ruler) + ḫꜣst (foreign land).
