Ionian mode (uncountable)

  1. (music) A mode that is the same as a major key, with the interval pattern:
    tone - tone - semitone - tone - tone - tone - semitone.
Starting on the note C, this produces a scale with the notes C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C.
