Beginnings

[edit]

@Лорд Алекс: Hi, I saw you putting in some Chukchi transliterations, so I wrote up the beginnings of a transliteration module to automate that, based on your edits. (I don't know anything about Chukchi, so I can't verify the transliterations, but I have worked on transliteration modules.) If you could fill in the letters that don't have transliterations, then perhaps the module will be ready to be added to the language data module. Also pinging @Atitarev and @Crom daba, who might know something about the language. — Eru·tuon 05:07, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • I'm really glad that you started it, Erutuon. Thank you for your work. The scientific transliteration system of the Chukchi language is currently used in the module. It's similar to the romanization systems of the Russian language (Similar systems: The United Nations romanization system, GOST & ISO 9:1995). In the current module: Э/э = Ė/ė, Щ/щ = Šč/šč, Ёё = Jo/jo. I think it's the best variant, but if you want something else, there is an alternative transliteration system available: Ээ = Èè, Щщ = Ŝŝ, Ёё = Ëë (Latin e-diaeresis). – Лорд Алекс (talk) 06:53, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
