Correction

[edit]

I may have introduced bad side-effects when I solved the problem of getting redlinks for parameter 4 in the template when there was an actual definition, rather than something that might have been appropriate for an entry, like a vernacular name. It would have helped if there had been examination of actual usage of the template, a prior discussion with an actual user, or a response to a talk page request for a correction by the author or someone who didn't have to guess how Lua worked. Italicization by i=1

[edit]

@Rua, Erutuon: Virus, Bacteria, and Archaea taxa are italicized without regard to rank. The ability to italicize the names of taxa using a named parameter would be very useful. i=1 is an obvious choice, used in such templates as {{taxoninfl}}, {{taxon}}, {{pedia}}, {{specieslite}}, {{comcatlite}}, and most of the taxonomy reference templates. Could someone please make the appropriate module changes. DCDuring (talk) 00:29, 5 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
