Testing for a., c., and p.[edit]

Hi, @Erutuon. I was wondering if you can tweak the module so that it tests for the presence of a., c., or p. before a year (e.g., |year=a. 2017). If so, then the module should display the following:

The idea is to replicate the effect of {{ante}}, {{circa}}, and {{post}}, in the sense that the abbreviation is not in bold. — SMUconlaw (talk) 15:12, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is what I did at {{cite-meta}}: [1]. — SMUconlaw (talk) 16:28, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Smuconlaw: I've added code to detect those abbreviations at the beginning of the |year= parameter. It has the <abbr> tag to mark it as an abbreviation, and a tooltip. I should probably add italics though. — Eru·tuon 18:33, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Yes, please add the italics if you can. Also, I suggest that the tooltips say "ante", "circa" and "post" rather than the less-helpful "Appendix:Glossary". — SMUconlaw (talk) 19:44, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've added italics. The tooltip was wrong because of the link; it might be fixed now. — Eru·tuon 01:25, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, the tooltips appear to be working fine. Thanks! — SMUconlaw (talk) 17:51, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── @Erutuon: by the way, is there any simple way to override the standard tooltip created by a wikitext link? I thought it would be nice to update {{ante}}, {{circa}} and {{post}} with what you have done here at "Module:time", so that the tooltip displayed is "ante", "circa" and "post" instead of "Appendix:Glossary", and the abbreviation has a dotted underline. However, I can't seem to find a way to do this using HTML, wikitext or even {{tooltip}}. — SMUconlaw (talk) 11:35, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Updating the module for use with "Template:cite-meta"[edit]

@Erutuon: just a thought – can you update this module so that it works for {{cite-meta}} as well? The main formatting difference between {{cite-meta}} and {{quote-meta/source}} is that in {{cite-meta}} the date does not appear in boldface. (It also does not occur at the start of the quotation, but its position is not controlled by this module.) — SMUconlaw (talk) 17:31, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

To fix: dates without a day of the month[edit]

Note for future reference. See Wiktionary:Grease pit/2020/May#Month, year dates confuse quote-journal template. — Eru·tuon 17:24, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
