@The dog2 Are we doing the fork for eating here? RcAlex36 (talk) 03:45, 5 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@RcAlex36: Yes, that's what I intended. The dog2 (talk) 04:07, 5 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hainanese

[edit]

@Justinrleung Do you have any sources that give the Chinese character for the Hainanese word? The dog2 (talk) 23:52, 25 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@The dog2: It seems to be 戳. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 03:39, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: Do you think this definition should be added to the entry for 戳 then? The dog2 (talk) 04:47, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2 海南方言 by 雲惟利 (based on Wenchang) defines it as 尖銳的東西, so it seems to be wider than "fork". Can you check with your relatives? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 13:54, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: I asked and in Singapore, it usually refers to a fork for eating. They weren't aware of any other meaning. The dog2 (talk) 01:03, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
