先生

[edit]

@Justinrleung Do you think we should list this under classical Chinese. My Chinese teacher told us that this was how they would address their teachers when she was going to school, so while it's not used in modern-day standard Mandarin, you can still see it in some old texts, like in the Chinese nursery rhyme 小二郎. @The dog2: Dated Mandarin is not classical Chinese. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 19:10, 6 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: How do you think we should list this then. I think it should be listed in some form since it was part of standard Mandarin back in the 1930s. The dog2 (talk) 19:13, 6 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: Standard dictionaries list the teacher sense for 先生 without any marking so I think it's still considered part of standard Mandarin. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 19:23, 6 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
