[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *entrá, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁entrom.
Baltic cognates include Old Prussian instran (“fat”).
Indo-European cognates include Sanskrit आन्त्र n (āntrá, “intestine”), Ancient Greek ἔντερα n (éntera, “entrails”, pl.).
