Reconstruction:Latin/extrapungere
Appearance
Latin
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Likely from trānspungere, via a late Latin form *trāpungere, as seen in Italian trapungere. The change to *extrāpungere may be explained as either the confusion of the prefixes "extrā-" with "trā-" or by the addition of the prefix "ex-" to "trā-", which may have occured either at the proto-Romance stage or independently in daughter languages.
Pronunciation
