From Proto-Iranian *Hr̥tábaHnúš, equivalent to 𐎠𐎼𐎫 (a-r-t /⁠r̥taʰ⁠/, Asha; truth) +‎ *bānuš (beam, lustre, light). Cognate with Parthian 𐭀𐭓𐭕𐭁𐭍𐭅 (ʾrtbnw /⁠Ardabān⁠/).[1][2]
