From Proto-Indo-European *sméḱreh₂ with centumization, from an original neuter noun *smóḱwr̥, as continued by Hittite 𒍝𒈠𒀭𒆳 (za-ma-an-kur /⁠tsmá(n)gur⁠/).[1][2]
