Proto-Finnic[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Possibly derived (with *-tadak) from a stem Proto-Finno-Permic *po(n)šɜ-, which has been proposed to be a borrowing from Proto-Indo-European *powH-éye-ti, albeit this is less tenable if *-n- was originally part of the root.

Verb[edit]

*pohtadak (stem *pohta-)

  1. to winnow (separate grain from husk or chaff with a winnowing basket)

Inflection[edit]
