Proto-Finnic[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From the root of *rasëda with a substitution of the adjective ending (from *-EdA to *-As, as in *veeras). The *-k- is more difficult to explain; it may be from *-kka (and the complete suffix be in fact *-k'as), which may have become ungeminated to prevent a phonotactically impossible **-skk-.

Adjective[edit]

*raskas

  1. heavy, weighty

Inflection[edit]

Descendants[edit]

  • Finnish: raskas
  • Ingrian: raskas

  • Votic: raskõz
