[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *bélom, from *bel- (“strong”). Cognate with Proto-Slavic *boľьjь (“bigger, better”), Ancient Greek βελτίων (beltíōn, “better”), Latin dēbilis (“weak, crippled”).[1][2]
