Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *nésdyos, from *nesd-, from a compound of a prefix that is perhaps cognate with Ancient Greek ᾰ̓νᾰ́ (aná, on, upon) + Proto-Indo-European *sed- (sit).[1][2]
