    From *bagáh (god) +‎ *daHtáh (given). Cognate with Sanskrit भगदत्त (bhagadatta), Proto-Slavic *Bogъdanъ. Equivalent to Ancient Greek Θεόδωρος (Theódōros), Latin Deodatus, Sanskrit देवदत्त (devadatta), Old Armenian Աստուածատուր (Astuacatur), Hebrew נְתַנְאֵל (Netan'el), Turkish Tanrıverdi, Persian خداداد (xodâdâd).
