Etymology[edit]

From an ancient dead verb *döli- +‎ *-gen. Compared to Proto-Turkic *töle-k (tranquil, sedate, quiet), Proto-Tungusic *dulu-m (quite, peaceful, easy). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?) The root verb is only found in Turkic. See dölenmek (to calm down; to rest).
