Proto-Uralic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]The form *wäjä- is also possible according to Ante Aikio (2016), meaning a regular shift of *ä-ä to *a-i would have happened in Pre-Proto-Finnic (see *koi), making Proto-Samic *veajētēk a descendant and the Hungarian verb unrelated.
Verb
[edit]*woje-
Descendants
[edit]- Ugric:
- Hungarian: vív (“to fight; to besiege; to fence”)
- Proto-Finnic: *voidak (see there for further descendants)
