Are we sure that Latvian mezgls belongs here? Crom daba (talk) 19:48, 24 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

If one subscribes to the knot-brain theory, then, yes, the additional -l- element seems pretty trivial, especially in light of the dialectal mezgs, mazgs "knotty". Anyways, I expanded the etymology. Neitrāls vārds (talk) 11:12, 31 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Mobility[edit]

@Gnosandes The mobility of this noun must be inherited, because it is oxytonic in PIE. —Rua (mew) 19:50, 20 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Rua PIE *mo̍sgʰ[+]-os[+] > PBS *mãsg[+]-as[+]; PGerm. *ma̍zg[+]-ą[+]; PII *mázǰʰ[+]as[+] (right-hand drift [правосторонний дрейф])> *mazǰʰ[+]ás[+]. Are you based on Proto-Indo-Iranian for some reason, sorry Gnosandes (talk) 20:17, 20 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Can you please stop adding all those + and - to everything, it makes it incomprehensible and unreadable. —Rua (mew) 20:25, 20 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Rua It's a descriptive system, what can I do. I can so: PIE *mo̟̍sgʰo̟s > PBS *mã̟sga̟s; PGerm. *ma̟̍zg-ą̟; PII *má̟zǰʰa̟s ~> *ma̟zǰʰá̟s .-. Gnosandes (talk) 20:32, 20 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
