@Rua, Anglom, Mahagaja: {{R:cel-bry:Schrijver|168}} and {{R:cel:Zair:2012|83}} cite this as being derived from an nasal infix. Wouldn't that have yielded **barnọd from PC **barnāti? Could a PIE nu-present or a newly build PC na- verb be better possibilities? --{{victar|talk}} 20:52, 13 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Victar: Celtic generalized the short a in the nasal infix presents (Old Irish class B IV), e.g. *binati, *kʷrinati, etc. —Mahāgaja · talk 07:40, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Mahagaja: Were na-verbs productive in PC? --{{victar|talk}} 17:48, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Victar: I don't know about productive, but they were fairly common, so maybe there are new ones that weren't in PIE. —Mahāgaja · talk 17:59, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
