Gender

[edit]

I'm not entirely confident with this one, especially about the gender. Kroonen lists it as masculine with a question mark for uncertainty. I went with neuter because of the forms that show the dental. Anglom (talk) 18:30, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Neuter i-stems were very rare, so it's a bit suspicious. What genders do all of the descendants have? —CodeCat 19:18, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Old Norse and descendants show feminine, Old English masculine, while Dutch and Middle Low German are neuter. Anglom (talk) 19:33, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
I think that the neuter-ness may be specifically related to the suffix that appears in those languages. Does the unsuffixed form have neuter gender in any of them? —CodeCat 21:29, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
It was supposedly a t-stem, but I am unsure now if it actually is and whether those forms do have a separate suffix. Anglom (talk) 21:34, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
