Etymology speculation

Was thinking about this the other night and I thought that the two words with which this word would most be associated with would be *fehu, "cattle", and *felu, "much, a lot". This leads me to posit a contamination of *meluks in a phrase like *felu melks > *felu meluks or a in a phrase like "much cattle and milk".
