*nebalaz[edit]

Kroonen says this could go back to *neblaz, *nebelaz(*nibilaz?), or *nebalaz, but not *nebulaz, as that would have given OHG **nibul. I did not realize this. Should we move it to *nebalaz? Anglom (talk) 16:04, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There's also Old Norse njól though, which doesn't seem to be derivable from *nebalaz. Philippa reconstructs *nebula-, *nebulō-. —CodeCat 16:17, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
He did mention that too, saying it could have come from *nebalō or *nebulō. Also mentioning the adjective *nibilaz. It seems like a very confusing set of words. Anglom (talk) 16:30, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
