Latin mactos
[edit]Latin mactus is currently claimed by both this root, and by the PIE adjective *meǵh₂- (“great”). Is this an inconsistency, or is *meǵh₂- somehow related to meh₂ḱ-? The page for mactus itself claims that it is derived from *meǵh₂-. --Caoimhin (talk) 18:19, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Caoimhin: Still doubted. But I ask could not Latin magnus simply be from *mh₂ḱnós instead of some weird *m̥ǵh₂nós? These two roots much seem of the ḱ-ǵ kind...and its corruption or misinterpretation must be in that stray h₂. -GuitarDudeness (talk) 12:49, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
