*Háwiš[edit]

@Victar: Hello. Why do the words homonyms in Sanskrit give completely different forms: *Háwiš (“sheep”) > ávi, but *Háwiš (“bird”) > ? At the same time, there is not the slightest explanation on the page why this happened. Gnosandes (talk) 10:25, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

That's because they're not. --{{victar|talk}} 16:51, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Victar: Okay. But you haven't changed this reconstruction on the Indo-European page. It is very strange that you give two reconstructions (*h₂w-í-s ~ *h₂u-yé-s) and do not explain why. Gnosandes (talk) 17:26, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
nom.sg. *h₂w-í-s ~ gen.sg. *h₂u-yé-s. Not strange at all. --{{victar|talk}} 17:30, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Victar: Is this a standard in Wiktionary? For I have not seen this in academic works, so it's strange. The tilde is not used in this case, that is. Gnosandes (talk) 18:02, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
It's standard notation in both academia and on this project. --{{victar|talk}} 18:29, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
