I heard an explantion that it's *čelo (forehead) + *věkъ (age) = "the one with wisdom". Is that a folk (i.e. false) etymology? Kevlar67 (talk) 18:22, 18 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps cognate with Persian کلوک (kalōk, boy, young man), Persian کلو (kulō, The head man of a ward; the judge of a market; the governor of a province), both are now obsolete.--Chernell (talk) 15:42, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
