"Seuss" is indeed /suːs/ in English at least for the famous Dr Seuss. In this case the Seuss family emigrated from a German-speaking background to USA where the German pronunciation (anglicised would be /sɔɪs/) was corrupted to what is commonly termed a "spelling pronunciation".

Other people with the surname Seuss may have retained a more germanic pronunciation but I don't know because none of them seem to be famous enough (: — Hippietrail 15:48, 17 May 2004 (UTC)Reply
