Luxembourgish[edit]

Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

The expected Luxembourgish outcome of Old High German scuola is Schull; compare Pull from puol, phuol, and kill from kuoli. The form Schoul could be from Old High German *scōla through (re-)adaptation to Latin schola. The other Central Franconian forms seem to confirm this (see Schull).
