Two main origins:
- Borrowed from Khmer ស៊ុយ (suy), a surname typically found in Cambodia, ultimately deriving from Chinese 隋 (suí).
- Borrowed from Catalan Suy, a surname of unknown origin. This surname is predominantly found in Guatemala.
