I hope my translation to English is correct but in Russian it's "ревновать кого-либо к кому-либо". The direct object is the reason of jealousy and к + dative is the perceived rival. Your dictionary describes a situation with "because his wife likes him" but "his" wife may not like Sasha, the jealousy may be unjustified. Example for sense 1

The translation does not make sense. I don’t know what it means to be jealous of person A because of person B. It would be great if someone chose a new example or improved the translation. Zblumens (talk) 01:27, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
