If we take this word from Iranian, it should be from earlier *bančār with regular -nč > -nǰ (compare MP, panǰ, NP panj from PIr. *panča-). *čār is cognate with MP -zār "field", Kurdish -ǰāř, NP -zār, Have no idea about first element ban-.--Calak (talk) 09:07, 8 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

The word indeed has a shape of an Iranian borrowing, but unless we can explain *ban- and find an attested Iranian parallel, this is very speculative. The second part can be related to ճարակ (čarak, fodder): compare Gypsy čar ‘grass’, Pashto car ‘grass as animal feed’. --Vahag (talk) 13:54, 8 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
