@Vahagn Petrosyan: Theoretically Etymology 2 can be from SW MIr. dāδ; compare MP dād "age".--Calak (talk) 18:52, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Calak: You mean Etymology 1? Etymology 2 does not mean "age". Etymology 2 is probably an unidentified Iranian borrowing, in view of the (wholly-borrowed?) compound դարաւանդ (darawand). --Vahag (talk) 06:10, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Vahagn Petrosyan: Oh yes, Etymology 1. For Etymology 2 I don't have any idea yet.--Calak (talk) 14:37, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In Modern Iranian languages like Persian and Kurdish dar(r)a/e, darband mean valley.--Calak (talk) 10:15, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Calak:, the Semitic borrowing is more likely in view of the u-stem, as in Akkadian. As for the second etymology, I found the Iranian origin in Olsen referencing Bolognesi. --Vahag (talk) 11:16, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
