@Vahagn Petrosyan: Do you know anything about entymology of լավազ?--Calak (talk) 12:21, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Calak: The only attempt I know is Martirosyan's etymology represented in this version, which I find unconvincing. I suppose you know a Kurdish parallel? լավազ (lavaz) is found in Van and the diminutive լավազիկ (lavazik) in Moks. A Kurdish borrowing is possible. --Vahag (talk) 16:42, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Vahagn Petrosyan: Yes, lawaz is a common word in all Kurdish dialects (NK, CK and SK) + Hawrami, means "slim, thin, weak".--Calak (talk) 16:52, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Calak: Every time someone proposes a mysterious "substrate" or deep PIE origin for a dialectal word, I later find a much simpler solution of a recent borrowing from a neighbouring language. Could you please add the Kurdish words to լավազ (lavaz)? --Vahag (talk) 17:04, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes, you are right Vahag. I added them.--Calak (talk) 17:29, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
