Lezgin language

[edit]

Why is it not from Arabic but from Armenian? Galstyan Karen Artyushovich (talk) 09:08, 31 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

See Vinogradova / Klimov 1979 and Klimov 1994. They assume it is via Armenian because of the form, in particular ṭ = տ (t) ≠ ḍ. But I am sceptical about the existence of Armenian borrowings in Northeast Caucasian languages, except Udi. A specialist should check if Arabic -ḍ can give -ṭ in other borrowings. Well I think there are Armenian words in Caucasian languages especially through Georgian language mediation Galstyan Karen Artyushovich (talk) 16:40, 31 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I meant direct borrowings. Vahag (talk) 17:04, 31 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Aaaa well yes, but still there are from direct Armenian, but there are few words like that, there are a lot of words in Georgian and Udinian. Galstyan Karen Artyushovich (talk) 17:42, 31 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
