Fenugreek

@Vahagn Petrosyan: Though image searches and taxname searches do not immediately confirm this, I’d like to believe this also meant fenugreek, Trigonella foenum-graecum, plant, seed and paste, in Armenian. This Armenian cookess talks about чама́н (čamán) in Russian and how they talk in Armenian, stating that this is how they call the fenugreek in Armenian (as spoken where? The seeds she shows are clearly fenugreek seeds). Apart from the fact that the senses caraway and cumin barely exist in Turkish and Russian. Fay Freak (talk) 18:55, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

Except of course this sense is more frequent in Armenian in the reborrowed forms, but you didn’t even gloss the Turkish appropriately and those reborrowed forms seem not to be frequent. Fay Freak (talk) 19:00, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

@Fay Freak: You are right. Malxaseancʿ quotes the старший фармацевт Sepetčean identifying three kinds of čʻaman in his fieldwork: Greek čʻaman = cumin, Armenian čʻaman = caraway, Turkish čʻaman = fenugreek. --Vahag (talk) 14:14, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
