@Calak: Indeed, these words are certainly related. Since the Armenian has no etymology, we have no reason to suppose Kurdish borrowed it. The Armenian may be borrowed from an Iranian cognate of Kurdish. Kurdish Wiktionary gives a native origin for pel, but I do not know how reliable that is.
