Persian etymology[edit]
Is the Persian term really inherited or simply borrowed back from Arabic? I assume that in the first case the Tajik form would be *ден, wouldn’t it? Guldrelokk (talk) 09:08, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
- No, that's a regular sound change. There are many examples, such as Middle Persian kyn' (kēn) > Persian کین (kīn) (Mackenzie). --Z 10:31, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
