@Vahagn Petrosyan: Persian dictionaries derives it from Arabic مَشّاق (maššāq); makes sense. They pronounce it as maššāq.--Calak (talk) 17:18, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

@Calak: At least two independent dictionaries, Steingass and the Persian–Armenian one, spell it mušāq. I think the Persian dictionaries have conflated the 'servant' sense with the second sense I just created. --Vahag (talk) 16:03, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
