مزاح

[edit]

@Fay Freak Related to مزاح (mzāḥ)? — Fenakhay (حيطي · مساهماتي) 02:29, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Fenakhay: Definitely. Seen exactly in Romanizations of Pedro de Alcalá, muzăa͐ = مُزَاع (muzāʕ) and muzăh = مُزَاح (muzāḥ) s.v. niespero. Now rethinking I assume that all the forms other than مصع don’t pass as Standard Arabic and have to be entered as a dialect, Andalusi, Moroccan, Algerian, and even Levantine in the sense ‘sorb apple; sorb’, مَزَح (mazaḥ): Berggren, Jakob (1844) “corme, cormier”, in Guide français-arabe vulgaire des voyageurs et des Francs en Syrie et en Égypte, avec carte physique et géographique de la Syrie et plan géométrique de Jérusalem ancien et moderne. Comme supplément aux Voyages en Orient[1] (in French), Uppsala: Leffler et Sebell, column 232 (cited by Dozy). Fay Freak (talk) 14:44, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
