Etymology[edit]

@Pulimaiyi: When I wrote the etymology in September 2017, I did not understand why आयुध in {{R:mr:Molesworth}} was less suitable to be the Sanskrit etymon when compared to आयुक्त. Even though it later became clear to me why आयुक्त is the better Sanskrit etymon, I never got round to editing this entry again. I have also wanted to move the spelling to औत without word-medial ऊ since it is the more common form (similar to दौत and कौल).
