Caper Kartvelian

From your material it looks like Persian کبر (kabar, “caper”) and “Oriental-origin” Ancient Greek κάππαρις (kápparis) could be ultimately from Kartvelian, unless a third language group, as long as we don’t have anything to write for the Persian etymology, just dropping the thought here … Fay Freak (talk) 23:00, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

Not reconstructible for Kartvelian. You'd expect something like *კოპორ- (*ǩop̌or-) or perhaps *კეპორ- (*ǩep̌or-) in Zan კვარია (talk) 23:14, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

The word seems to be confined to Pontus and Colchis, so could be a Greek borrowing if we can offer a native origin for the Pontic terms I just added. Vahag (talk) 23:48, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
