Lewis & Short suggest (discussing mūnĭa): Sanscr. root mū, bind; that to which one is bound; cf. Gr. ἀμύνω; also moenia, murus, munus, immunis, etc., [1]. So the sense of ἀμύνω repay comes from ἀ-μύνω, making un-bound Tsinfandel (talk) 10:43, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
