Hmm. It doesn't seem exceedingly common but it gets 1,030 Google hits, most of them from Japan. It seems to be used in translations of English compounds such as "skeletal quartz" and "Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis".
This isn't enough for me to see if it's a rare Japanese word or just English words spelled in Japanese for the benefit on Japanese readers, much as English uses rominazations of many languages. — Hippietrail 03:56, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Though it is surely not a common Japanese word but a romanized English word, I come in favor of the survival. I think the description is appropriate here 「スケルタル」 in the katakana name-space, and is beneficial for someone investigating the meaning. Its only misfortune would be the early arrival without more (actually, allmost all of) common Japanese words around there :) -- Tohru 06:47, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
